Hiking In Winter Months
It’s that time of year where you can’t leave the house without thinking about how many layers you need and finding the right clothing to ensure you stay toasty warm.
When spending time outdoors, it’s even more important. As those of us living in the UK know, the weather can change dramatically within minutes so it’s always good to be prepared – especially when you’ve got a lot of elevation planned throughout a walk!
Pack your Layers
Throughout the colder months, I tend to pack in an extra layer when walking such as a base layer and I’ll also usually have a thicker option just in case. This alongside a hat, buff and gloves! The Decathlon fleeces are lightweight yet warm, so they’re perfect for sticking in a backpack as an extra layer. They’re also stretchy and quick-drying, so full comfort no matter how long your walk is.
Winter Hiking Trousers
Always come home from a walk with pink, cold thighs? I’ve often doubled up on layers for my legs too, but with these Decathlon hiking trousers, I don’t think I’ll need to!
When I first pulled these trousers on I couldn’t believe how soft and cosy they felt inside. The softshell design makes them water-repellent and they’re ideal for those colder hikes in wintery conditions. The ankle has a few buttons and a fastening hook, so you can adjust them where needed. The belt isn’t the best in design, but that’s not a big issue for me!
Winter Wellies
As the days get colder and the ground gets wetter/muddier, a good pair of wellies is ideal for getting those local walks in. Easy to slip on, easy to clean!
