With so many podcasts to listen to, how do you figure out what to look for? Inspiration for adventure can come from a number of places, but listening to someone’s experience directly and hearing the passion in their voice really is inspiring.
It makes you want to get out more, experience more adventure and try new outdoor hobbies. Here are some of my favourite podcasts to listen to when I need that little boost.
Extraordinary Ordinary You
Frankie Dewar was cycling 3000km around the UK and interviewing people on the journey when the Extraordinary Ordinary You podcast started. She speaks to such a wide range of people from all walks of life, all ages and all kinds of interests going on incredible adventures. The trip was completed after 71 days on the road, 3,175km cycled. And the podcast is still going.
Do you ever get the feeling when you meet someone older than you skiing, or climbing or running and think, I want to be like them when I’m that age. right?

Tough Girl Podcast
Hosted by Sarah Williams, the Tough Girl Podcast shares the stories of women with super inspiring experiences. When I first discovered this podcast, it was one of the few that focused purely on women rather than men, though thankfully many more podcasts and stories for women are popping up now!
Sarah talks to some amazing women on this podcast, with stories ranging from those walking miles across Europe, Ultra runners, climbers, photojournalists and those paddling 2,000 miles in a canoe… There are women from all backgrounds, race, religion, ages etc so you’re sure to learn something listening in.
Her Spirit
The Her Spirit Podcast is hosted by Louise Minchin and Annie Emmerson. They speak to women in sport, focusing on a range of topics from sport, to health and wellbeing.
I recently listened to the episode with Anoushé Husain – a paraclimber! As someone who loves bouldering, it was incredible listening to her journey as a climber, having been born missing her right arm below the elbow. Not only is she an incredible climber, but she’s also an ambassador for both Ehlers-Danlos Support UK and Limbpower, as well as supporting the Grit&Rock Foundation.
Our mantra is Together We’ve Got This and together we support each other to live life to the full and achieve mind, body and fuel goals we never thought possible.

They’re both award-winning travel journalists and they explore everything from cultural tourism to documenting a journey and making a living from travel. They speak to the world’s greatest travellers about topics such as travel writing, remote expeditions, nomadic lifestyles and more.
It’s a great listen for when you need a little escapism and to hear about travel and different countries and cultures.
The Outdoors Fix
The Outdoors Fix is hosted by Liv Bolton and aims to inspire you to make adventures and being outdoors a bigger part of your life. Speaking to women and men who have changed their lives and who spend more time outside hiking, cycling, wild swimming, landscape photography and more.
Her 1300km trip thru-hiking the South Island of New Zealand inspired this podcast, so you can be sure that Liv knows her outdoor stuff!
