Setting goals. It’s a funny thing really. Seems like you either love doing it or hate it.
I know I’ve said this plenty of times before but for me, it just makes me feel like I’m setting my year up to be a good ‘un. Like you know when you really sit down and think about what you want to accomplish? With that little bit of planning I’m definitely more mindful of the things I’ll need to put in motion to get this stuff done.
When I wrote my 2017 recap, I had a look through my 2017 goals and there were goals that I hadn’t completed. I think I managed around half and you know what, that’s okay. I’m not beating myself up about it and neither should you if you don’t hit all your goals. I like to think of them as a guide. A guide of things to plan for the year ahead.
And with that, I figured I’d split them up into the areas that really matter to me. Life, blog, fitness and travel.
- Be happy in my job
- Read 52 books
- Spend more time with friends and family
I’d like to think my personal goals are quite simple really. I managed to do quite a few things with both friends and family last year and it was great to just spend more time together.I’m hoping for more of that this year. With the reading, I really lost all love for reading last year and I’m hoping to get that back. As for the job, well, I’m currently working two part time jobs at the moment. It’s not great, I don’t have a set amount of pay coming in each month and I’d just like a bit more structure where money and my shifts are concerned.
- To re-brand and change the domain
- To get myself out there more
- Work on great content
I’m in the midst of sorting a re-brand, so the first is a bit of an easy goal in regards to that – it’s definitely happening. But I hope to really bring my content out in 2018 and properly focus on quality. And I want to meet more people!
Fitness & Health
- Improve strength and focus more on weights
- Practise yoga regularly
- Try a new sport
- Improve my Wigan Half Marathon time
Last year I ran a race a month, and my focus was very much so on the running. This year I want to focus more on strength and building muscle. I’ll still be running, but just not putting my full focus on it. Though I do have two half marathon’s booked! And I know I say this every year but I also want to properly start practising yoga regularly. My body really needs it.
- Go solo
- Visit two new cities in the UK
- Visit at least one European city
- Hike somewhere new
Ah travel. Oh how I want to get out and explore. I’m hoping to get out to more places this year, even if it’s just mostly around the UK. I’m still in the midst of saving for a big trip, but I’m basically just going to try to stop the unnecessary spends so all my money can go to travel.
A new year always brings a positive feeling for me as I like the idea of starting fresh and ready for what’s to come. It’s gonna be good!
