Visiting the Ayia Napa Sculpture Park

Ayia Napa’s sculpture park was opened in May 2014 by the Mayor. The open-air sculpture museum aimed to create a completely new tourist experience, and with it being free to enter and open 24/7 all year round, it sure is accessible to all.

Featuring both small and large works of art (created by more than 40 sculptors from around the world!) it continues to grow year on year as more works are added throughout the park.

Ayia Napa Sculpture Park Artists

Interestingly, with the expansion of the sculpture collection being an ongoing project, artists gather together during each winter and spring to create new sculptures. Yep – they create them onsite! Apparently, Ayia Napa Municipality provides the artists with accommodation and full board for 3 weeks, materials and equipment, money upon completion of the project and a few more bits. What a great scheme! It also means you could revisit after a couple of years and have different things to see.

Getting to Ayia Napa Sculpture Park

If you’re staying in the centre of Ayia Napa, it’s roughly a 20-30 minute walk to get to the sculpture park and is quite a straight route to follow if you head up Kyrou Nerou Road. You will pass a few hotels, with Tofinis being the last you see before turning left. The entrance to the park is opposite the Marina Hotel.

There is a small amount of parking if you drive onto what looks like a trail as you get to the entrance. We visited late afternoon – between 5-6pm – and there were very few people about. I would imagine it gets quite busy at other times throughout the day.

Cactus Park

An expansion to the Ayia Napa sculpture park, the cactus park naturally follows on as you’re wandering around the footpath trail. Here you’ll see a range of cacti and other plants, and it’s a nice little addition to the area. Being near the coast, and in a touristy area with lots of hotels, restaurants and shops, you don’t tend to see much green space so it’s a lovely area to have.
