My Top 10 Christmas Adverts

Top 10 Christmas Adverts |

Nowadays, one of the most exciting things to happen on TV around Christmas-time is the influx of new Christmas adverts. When all the adverts first started appearing on TV this year my dad and I started playing ‘guess the brand’. That was entertaining for a couple of days. They all try to out-do one another, and that means we get some hilarious ones, some heart-wrenching ones and some that are just plain weird. There are some that I remember year after year and compare the new ones to, so I figured I’d share a list of some of my favourites over the years.

In no particular order… My Top 10 Christmas Adverts

The Classics

So I think these first four are pretty explanatory. They’re all so classic, and I’m sure everyone’s seen them before. If not, what have you been hiding under?! I think my favourite out of these has to be the Kelloggs one. It has been on the TV recently too!

Toys R Us: Magical Place (1989)

Kelloggs (1991)

Yellow Pages: Under The Mistletoe (1992)

Coca-Cola: Holidays Are Coming (1995)

Sainsburys: Mog’s Christmas Calamity (2015)
Okay so this isn’t a classic advert considering it’s from this year, but Mog is certainly a classic!
So cleverly done: the Behind the Scenes video is great too!

The Emotional

John Lewis: The Long Wait (2011)
This is the first John Lewis advert that I really remember, and it still brings a tear to my eye!
It’s sweet, and I like it.

John Lewis: Monty the Penguin (2014)
Another John Lewis advert – one that really tugs on your heartstrings!

Vodafone: Terry the Turkey (2015)
Oh this advert.
I was shocked when I first saw it and was like nooooo, they can’t do that, but it turned out to be brilliant.

The One that was Set in My Town

Tesco: The Wigan Light Show (2014)
I’m still gutted that I wasn’t around when this was being filmed because it would have been soo good to see!

And the just Plain Weird

KFC: The Taste That Unites (2013)
This one is just unexpected and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I first saw it on TV.
The kid at 1:40 just makes it for me.

So yeah, those are my favourite Christmas adverts. The ones I could remember at least…

Any favourites of yours that I’ve missed off?
