Taking Stock #1 – 101 in 1001

I started my 101 in 1001 challenge on the 1st of August this year, and I really thought I’d done an update since then, but it appears that I haven’t! So far I’ve managed to tick off a good few things, and now we’re nearing the end of the year (how did that happen?!) it’s as good time as any to show you what I’ve been up to! I seem to have done at least one ‘big’ thing a month, so that’s good right?

One thing that I have started, but not completed, is learning to drive. I’ve had quite a few lessons now, have done all my manoeuvres and will now be focusing on driving test routes and getting things ‘perfected’. I can still get quite nervous, and question what I can do, but I’m getting there. I’ve got my theory test booked in for January, so fingers crossed for that! I also joined a gym, and have been doing fairly well with my workouts so far!

In August I finally managed to get out and do some berry picking and posted about it here. We went to a farm where you paid per kg I think, and it was surprisingly cheap! I’ve wanted to do this for so long, and the only disappointment was that we’d left it too late to get strawberries… Nevertheless, the abundance of blackberries were definitely a welcome sight.

In September, we had a lovely new addition to the family! My cousin was born mid-September, and I took these photos when she was 10 or 11 days old – can’t quite remember! With it being my first time taking newborn photographs (and not having a baby myself!) I was a little scared of moving her too much and upsetting her, but I was really happy with the outcome. Always more to learn and to try out – I definitely want to try a few more! Just look at those eyes though!

October brought our long-awaited holiday to Lanzarote. I was so excited to get into the sun, and way back in May I booked myself onto a diving course. In this week I managed to do two dives, one at 6ft and one at 12ft. Yes, we had lots of help and struggled a little with buoyancy, but oh it was so incredible. (On another note, do you know how difficult it is to be unsure of the spelling of buoyancy, only to google it and end up with ‘did you mean beyonce?’) I also managed to do some snorkelling in Lanzarote, which may be a bit of a cop out using this holiday for both things, but hey, I’m back there in March 2016 too ;) I have some videos on my blog if you’re interested!

Other things that have happened since starting this list include eating at a new-to-me and veggie/vegan restaurant, finishing books 4 & 5 of the Harry Potter audio books and having a guest post on my blog. I also read a couple of new graphic novels, both being in the Saga series. I’m still hunting for more recommendations

The biggest thing that I’ve done this year is Graduate! We had a winter graduation in November (still a little bitter…) but luckily it wasn’t raining on the day and was quite bright. It was freezing cold though, and my feet were numb by the time I got in the car to go home! I wrote a post about my graduation here. It was better than I was expecting, and I also recently got my photos which were better than expected too (but still not great!)

That’s a few things ticked off then. Still plenty of time to go in this challenge, and I’ll hopefully get more done soon! I’ve got a couple of exciting things happening in 2016, so I can’t wait to share those! Anyone else doing 101 in 1001? I’d love to see your lists!
