LUSH BB Seaweed Face Mask

One of the main reasons I was so excited to get back to Carlisle at the end of last month, besides my Graduation of course, was to visit LUSH! My town doesn’t have one, and my nearest is Manchester which is just far too much effort. I wanted to pick up a couple of bath bombs and get a free face mask with my empty tubs!

LUSH BB Seaweed Face Mask

The lovely guy at Carlisle LUSH was very helpful and helped me to narrow it down to two: BB Seaweed and Catastrophe Cosmetic. Unfortunately, they were expecting a delivery of face masks and it hadn’t arrived, so I had the Tuesday evening to decide, and picked one up the next day instead. I actually went into the shop on the Wednesday in my robes, and everyone in there was so lovely congratulating me. LUSH staff really are a friendly bunch!

Anyway, as you can see, I went for BB Seaweed. The website describes this mask as ‘A calming fresh face mask with fresh seaweed, ground almonds, rose absolute and aloe vera to soothe and soften the skin. We also use rosemary oil for its regenerative qualities, kaolin to remove any excess dirt or oil, and millet flakes to gently exfoliate away dead skin as you scrub it off.’

The main four ingredients of this mask are: toothed wrack seaweed, which forms a barrier on the skin to help retain moisture; honey, to thoroughly clean and moisturise the skin; rose absolute, to nourish the skin and balance colour; aloe vera gel to soothe itching, reduce redness and protect the skin. A good mixture if you ask me! I got it because my skin tone is so uneven and often quite red. I figured the aloe vera and the rose absolute would definitely be a pro for me.

What did I think?

The mask itself goes on really easily, and also dried quite quickly on my skin too. I always think the LUSH face masks feel super natural and I guess that’s because they are. The texture is bumpy and lumpy and you can often see big pieces of an ingredient. To me, this feels more luxurious than using a face mask in a smooth cream form, because it just feels ‘real’ and not full of random chemicals.

When using BB Seaweed, the smell wasn’t overpowering at all, and was quite soft and ‘fresh’ smelling. I honestly can’t pinpoint an exact scent, but it was definitely a pleasant one! Now I’m not sure I’ve really seen a difference in redness, but the mask does make my skin feel soft and I love having it on! So for that reason, it’s definitely a good buy for me. I’ve used it three times since buying, and there’s still plenty left in the pot for more. EDIT: I feel like I should add that a couple of days later I’ve realised that my skin is actually a lot less red than it was before using this. Coincidence? I’m not sure!

I know a lot of us love a good LUSH buy; anyone have a favourite face mask? This is the third I’ve tried, with the others being Cupcake and Mask of Magnaminty. I think Cupcake is probably still my favourite, even if mostly for the smell…
