It’s that time of year again. For those in education, summer can either be brilliant, or boring as you just wait for the new school terms to start again. For me, it’s basically the start of my life. I’m heading out into the ‘real world’ (does anyone else hate this phrase?!) and leaving education for good. Maybe. You know, I’d love to do a masters – I just don’t know what in any more!
Anyway, it’s time I start looking for a ‘proper’ job. I’ve been working my part-time job for almost two years now, and had other jobs before that, so the world of work isn’t new to me… Now’s the time to pursue a career though; I don’t want to be in retail for the rest of my life! I have an idea of where I’d like to go – working for a magazine or website/blog, preferably relating to either wildlife, fitness or crafts. Bit of a mixture yep, but basically I’d love to work in any magazine/company that isn’t fashion… Editorial, writing, doing photography – I love them all! Anyway, back to the actual reason for this post, I’ve decided that I need some goals for this summer. It’s all too easy to sit at home and do nothing, expecting the job to just jump out and money to land in your bank (I wish!), so I’m hoping these goals will help to motivate me.
+ Find a full-time job. This is a necessity. (But preferably in something I want to pursue career-wise)
+ Start driving lessons. This is also a necessity.
+ Start saving. (Once I have a job…)
+ Get out more.
+ Keep running.
+ Join a gym (as soon as I get a full-time job)
+ Stop buying sandwiches from tesco/asda for ease… (I love a good egg mayo butty!)
+ Eat well. (Stop eating so many sweets!!)
+ Keep blogging.
+ Keep smashing.
+ Keep practising my hand lettering.
I don’t know whether I’ll add any more to this, but these are my ‘base’ goals as of now. Nothing too difficult, just something to keep me on track! Like I said, it’s all to easy to fall into the trap of doing nothing. I want to at least make sure I’m doing something with my life!
So, are there any media businesses out there that want to hire me? Eh, it’s worth a try, right?
