It doesn’t feel like we should be in May already, yet April has felt like such a long month! I mean, half-term seemed to drag for weeks. Saying that, pretty sure it did last around 4 weeks between the end of March/beginning of April because of differences in school dates off…
What happened in April?
It probably feels like April has lasted forever because I’ve actually had a busy month. I spent every day of the first week working because 1, it was half term, and 2, because I started my new job. My new job is going well. I’m learning a lot, and I’m enjoying my time there. So yeah, still settling in! In Life in March ’16 I said I was starting BBG again on the 4th April. Well, that didn’t happen. I did make it to the gym though. Once.
With my working hours a little more set in stone now, I’ve been able to keep my driving lessons up regularly and at the same time each week. I’ve booked my test, so now it’s just a case of perfecting everything and waiting those few months until Summer. The first available times still feel like they’re ages away! I can’t wait to be able to drive though, it will make things so much easier. I need to pass first time, because I don’t want to be dishing out another £62!
Back at the start of the month, my dad and I planted some new flowers and since then the weather has just decided it wants to stay in Winter… I mean, we’re even getting snow in April! What’s that about? I’ve spent a lot of time dreaming about being in a hot country and practising my Spanish. It’s going pretty well actually – I even managed a 10 day streak! I haven’t put time aside to practise this past week though, so I need to get back into that asap. I’m feeling more comfortable with the words and gendering though.
I also rearranged my room this month and it feels so much better. Anyone else just need new surroundings to get yourself feeling a little better and more productive? My desk is much less cluttered now (though it definitely isn’t as tidy as the photo right now!) and with that comes a less cluttered mind! My Kikki K Vanskap arrived this month, and I also received and reviewed a couple of stationery boxes, which were published in the great week that is National Stationery Week!
Family-wise, I had a Christening to go to this month! It was nice to be out with family, and see a few who I don’t get to see that often. I also went to see The Jungle Book with my sister and oh, it was amazing. I would definitely recommend. Took my right back to being a child, and little Mowgli was brilliant. Not ashamed to admit that I cried a few times!
I went to my first event and it was Blog At The Beach in Leeds, organised by the Ice Lolly team! I was pretty nervous so didn’t speak to many people, but I had a lovely time with those I did speak to! Ice Lolly got in some brilliant speakers for the day. First up was Kirsten Thompson from Kooky Traveller, and she spoke about being safe online, not giving away too much personal information and about being transparent. A lot to learn there! Then we had Mi Elfverson from Vlog Academy giving us a few vlogging tips. It’s something I’d love to try, but I mean I’m still too scared to do a snapchat vlog, never mind an actual video! Maybe some day. Last up we had Sabina from GirlVsGlobe and oh what an inspiring talk this one was! Hard to believe it was Sabina’s first proper talk! A lot here about getting to know your readers, being able to be personal with them and how to grow your social following. So yeah, some great talks were had, tasty mexican food eaten and even a few songs from a great Mariachi band!
Handmade Burger Co
I finally got to experience the amazement that is Handmade Burger Co whilst I was in Leeds. I just felt like I needed to include this because they have 7 vegetarian options, and 5 of those are actually vegan too. How amazing is that? It definitely feels like vegetarian/vegan options are on rise in restaurants, and it’s nice to have a big choice. It took me a while to decide actually, but I went for the Veg-Mex: falafel, Mexican salsa, avocado, jalapeños and salad. I’m not a fan of avocado on it’s own, but I thought I’d take a chance because I knew it would calm the spice of the jalapeños and it didn’t disappoint. So good! We ordered sweet potato fries, regular chips and coleslaw between us and they were all delicious too. So yeah, I need to go back and taste all the other veggie burgers!
