Another post for my adventures in attempting to bake… One thing I was really excited to do this year, was make some cute-looking Christmas sugar cookies. Well I’m not entirely sure that happened – piping icing onto biscuits is 100000x harder than it looks! Making the biscuits is actually very simple, even if all the mixing made my arms sore!
All you’ll need is some butter, caster sugar, an egg, plain flour and some vanilla extract for the biscuits, and then icing sugar, water and food colouring for the icing. I’ve got the full recipe that I used right at the end, and it should yield around 36 biscuits. In my lot, I actually added a few teaspoons of cinnamon to add that extra Christmassy feeling. I haven’t included it in the recipe because it really wasn’t that strong of a taste, and I’m not sure how much cinnamon would do it – trial and error eh? If you’re more experienced with baking, I’m sure you’ll know what to do!
Icing was the fun part. My mum and I set everything up on the living room table, with a glass of wine and The Holiday on TV. Nice and relaxing. Or so we thought. We’re not very artistic or experienced in icing, as I’m sure you can tell from some of the biscuits… Neverless, it was entertaining and we actually spent a good 3 hours doing it. Does that just prove how inexperienced we are? We may not be winning any awards any time soon with these Christmas Sugar Cookies but they sure do taste good and I’d definitely recommend this recipe.
