Booktubeathon Reading Challenge Complete!

Booktubeathon is over!

See my original post here.

So, how did I do? I managed to read 4 full books, around 1/3 of one and 36 pages of another. I didn’t hit the number 7 target, but then I didn’t think I would anyway.

Challenges that I managed to complete include: Read a book with blue on the cover, Read a book by an author who shares the same first letter of your last name, Read someone else’s favourite book, Read the last book you acquired & Read a book you really want to read.

My Neighbor Totoro // 244 pages
Such a sweet little story! The book is pretty much the same as the film, seeing as the book was written afterwards! The edition I have has some beautiful illustrations in there, and it would be great for a young child who is reading on their own! 3/5

Just a Girl, Standing in Front of a Boy // 403 pages
When I first started this, I didn’t think I’d get into it. But then Fanny/Jenny is such a crazy personality, alongside her best friend Phillippa, and honestly they kept me entertained throughout the book. With comedy, heartbreak, family and a few twists, this isn’t just your usual romance book. I really felt like I could relate to the characters, and loved them all! 4/5

The End of the Wasp Season // 404 pages
I didn’t really love this one. It was okay, but for a crime/mystery, it didn’t have a lot of action. That was my problem throughout – everything was just too slow. It felt like too much emphasis went on the personal lives of the investigation team. Don’t get me wrong, I love a bit of backstory, but in this book it wasn’t just backstory. It was as though the crimes were instead. 3/5

Extraordinary Means // 324 pages
Oh I loved this! I haven’t read a lot of YA really, and this book just reminded me how much I do love it. I think I went through all the emotions with this book, and I actually really liked Lane. I thought the whole concept was really interesting and I thought it was kind of dystopia like, but not really. I mean, these kids have been quarantined from the public because of this really contagious and incurable strain of TB and it just made me think. I loved this quote: “And maybe this is how we move on. We grow new cells to replace the grieving ones, diluting our pain until it loses potency.” 4/5

On the Origin of Species // 36 pages
This is really interesting, but I can tell that parts of it are gonna me a bit of a slog to read through. I already learned loads in just these 36 pages though!

The Silkworm // 213 pages
So far I am loving this. As of this afternoon, I’m about half way through the book and it’s really getting interesting. I just love crime/mystery.

My grand total of pages was 1624, so I’m pretty pleased with that!
It’s a good amount, and it’s definitely helped me to get rid of some books on my TBR shelf!

And hey, now I’m only 13 books behind on my Goodreads challenge! ;)
